Whistle, a pet health and location tracker, sought SSPR to help build its brand awareness and market credibility within the rapidly growing pet industry


The pet technology industry is poised to grow 25% by 2025. With smart collars being the most widely adopted pet tech contributing to the rise, Whistle needed a compelling media outreach program to elevate brand awareness, further drive sales and cement itself as an industry leader.

How we got there

SSPR developed a media outreach strategy that showcased Whistle as the leader in transforming pet care to national lifestyle, business, technology and pet-focused outlets. The team identified key industry reporters and sent product samples to establish relationships and secure reviews. SSPR also leveraged Whistle’s holiday flash sales for product inclusion in gift

guides, deal coverage and product roundups in order to raise awareness among target consumers. To showcase Whistle’s credibility, the team shared expertise from staff veterinary doctors in trending pet conversations, like pet anxiety during COVID-19 and how to keep your dogs from overheating in the summer.


In less than three months, SSPR drove demand of the Whistle GO product and raised spokespeople visibility among key industry outlets. SSPR secured eight pieces of national coverage, from product reviews to thought leadership articles, in publications like Mashable, CNET, Fox Business and Better Homes and Gardens. The coverage led to more than 700 million media and close to 4,000 social media shares. In addition, SSPR helped bring over 700 new users to the Whistle website.
